The 'Hell's Chariot' Car From 'Grease' Is Up for Auction

Attention, Grease fans with massive bank accounts. This one’s for you: The Hell’s Chariot is up for auction, with the starting price of $200,000 and a projected winning bid between $400,000 and 600,000. The flame-covered Mercury Hot Rod convertible belonged to Danny Zuko’s rival and the leader of The Scorpions, Leo Balmudo (aka Craterface), and featured in the famous final race near the end of the now-classic 1978 film.

If this story seems familiar, that’s because the car was put up for auction just last year, after it was recovered in near-wrecked condition outside of Paramount Studios. The hot rod was restored and put up on eBay, and now it’s looking for an even higher price tag via Julien’s Auctions. (A key part of that restoration you’ll notice: the Greased Lightning- shredding razor hub caps.)

If the Hell’s Chariot is out of your price range, there’s a whole host of other random movie-centric items up for sale at the Hollywood Legends auction which is taking place on June 26 and 27. Check out the catalogue here, where you can catch a peek at an X-ray of Marilyn Monroe’s ribs, available for the low starting price of $4,000.
