Who you gonna call?

The four leads of Paul Feig’s divisive ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot were at last made official this week, with two actresses we pretty much knew were a dead cert in Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, and two more surprising choices in ‘Saturday Night Live’ stars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. There’s been a lot of vocal opposition to a gender-reversed take on the 1984 classic from the beginning, and this cast announcement has done little to stem the tide of mass hysteria. Next thing you know, it’ll be cats and dogs living together.

Who lives in a house like this?

Yes, if you’ve got £497,000 burning a hole in your pocket and you ain’t afraid of no ghosts, you could purchase the San Diego house in which the original ‘Paranormal Activity’ was shot. In which case you might be getting a bit closer to more ‘Paranormal Activity’ than the rest of us will just yet, because…

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension Delayed

Originally scheduled to hit cinemas in March, the next ‘Paranormal Activity’ movie has been pushed back to October - possibly to allow more time for the film to be converted to 3D. (Yeah, we’re still a little puzzled as to how a ‘Paranormal Activity’ film will work in three dimensions; guess we’ll find out.) Nor was that the only high profile horror that Paramount pushed back this week…

Friday the 13th still unlucky for some, apparently

It’s been almost six years since the last movie, yet it seems production house Platinum Dunes still don’t have a finished script for the next ‘Friday the 13th.’ Indeed, Bloody Disgusting report that the film doesn’t even have any writers attached at this point, making it small wonder the film - originally scheduled for this November - has been delayed until next May. Guess they’re striving to find the subtle nuances of the 6ft 5 maniac in a hockey mask who chops up college kids that drink, smoke and have premarital sex. But another old horror franchise is back to fill the gap…

The Ring returns in November

Taking ‘Friday the 13th’s vacated 13 November release date (yes, a Friday) is ‘Rings,’ a revival of ‘The Ring’ franchise based on the hugely influential Japanese horror series, from director F. Javier Gutierrez (who opted to direct this over the reboot of ‘The Crow’). We’re not sure what's in store, but suspect white-skinned girls with long black hair may have a role to play.

Jamie Dornan’s Horror Role

Another one we don’t know too much about at present is 'The 9th Life of Louis Drax,' the latest from director Alexandre Aja - but this week gave us our first look at the film’s leading man, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star Jamie Dornan, with wires attached to his brow. Looks like this time, he’s the one that gets tied down… okay, we’ll stop now.

The Green Inferno blazing on after all

One film we were beginning to think we might not wind up seeing at all was ‘The Green Inferno,’ a jungle cannibal shocker from ‘Hostel’ director Eli Roth. While it was for the most part well-received at various 2014 film festivals, legal issues were keeping the film from distribution, but - while no specific date has been confirmed yet - Roth says it should be on release by August or September. Chew on that…
