Universal's new The Invisible Man movie has cast its leading star.

It's been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter that Oliver Jackson-Cohen, star of The Haunting of Hill House, Man in the Orange Shirt and Emerald City, has now signed up to play the titular role.

The Handmaid's Tale's Elisabeth Moss, Hidden Figures' Aldis Hodge, Killing Ground actress Harriet Dyer and A Wrinkle in Time's Storm Reid are also starring in the film, which is coming from Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell.

Moss is said to be playing a woman called Celia whose deceased abusive ex-husband turns out to be not as dead as she thought he was.

As an interesting little Easter Egg, Moss previously had a voice role as a child in a Batman: The Animated Series episode where a man invented an invisibility suit to stalk his ex-wife and daughter.

Universal had originally planned to launch The Invisible Man as part of its monster movie shared franchise called the Dark Universe, with Johnny Depp attached to the title role.

But after the box office failure of 2017's The Mummy reboot starring Tom Cruise, the studio went back to the drawing board. The film was so poorly received that even the director didn't like it.

The Invisible Man reboot is set to release on March 13, 2020. And yes, that is a Friday the 13th.
