J.J. Abrams Hints At More Star Wars VII Teases

‘Star Wars VII’ director J.J. Abrams has admitted that there’s plenty more he can show us from the galaxy far, far away… just as soon as the time is right.

During an appearance at the Oscar Wilde US-Ireland Alliance party at the Bad Robot studios, Abrams admitted there’s plenty more to show us after the impressive teaser trailer.

"First of all, I’m always grateful that people would be asking. But the truth is it’s like we haven’t shown anything,” he said. “There’s sort of an abundance of riches with the stuff we could put out so we’re just trying to make sure it’s as good as it could be before we put anything out.”

“The disaster would be to race something out for the sake of making an impact and it being not as good as people deserve,” he added.

Of course, the ‘Star Wars VII’ teaser trailer was probably the most talked-about trailer of 2014… and while it managed to reveal very little, it did exactly what a teaser trailer should do – keep the fans in suspense.

“We don’t want to be coy but we have almost a year until the movie comes out,” he explained. “So we have to be smart about what we say and when. We’re always having conversations about it.”

Obviously, Disney and Lucasfilm have been very careful about what they release… but that hasn’t stopped leaks and rumours from getting out. After a slew of concept art was unleashed online, as well as photographs taken behind the scenes, it looks as though the ‘Star Wars’ crew has to be very careful what they do.

And handling official releases no doubt plays a huge part in that.

But of course, J.J. Abrams assures us that it really is worth the wait.

“I would say thank you for being interested,” he said. “Thank you for your patience and honestly, I can’t wait for you to see the film.”

‘Star Wars VII’ heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.
