Jack Huston In Line For The Crow Reboot

As the long-awaited revival of much-loved supernatural revenge saga ‘The Crow’ limps ever closer to taking flight, it has been announced that the producers have a new actor in mind for the lead role: Jack Huston.

The 32-year old London-born actor has been gradually working his way up the Hollywood ladder these past few years with roles in ‘Twilight: Eclipse,’ ‘Kill Your Darlings,’ and ‘American Hustle,’ but is perhaps best known for TV’s ‘Boardwalk Empire.’

Huston looks set to break big in the near future after landing the lead role in director Timur Bekmambetov’s new take on ‘Ben-Hur’ - and now according to Deadline, the actor is in early talks with Relativity Media to appear as ‘The Crow’s undead anti-hero Eric Draven, the role made famous by the late Brandon Lee in the 1994 original from director Alex Proyas.

If things pan out, Huston would take the place of Luke Evans, who had been originally signed up for the lead but had to move on in favour of other projects when production on the reboot was delayed.

However, Huston’s casting might not be entirely to the liking of James O’Barr, comic book writer and artist behind the original graphic novel of ‘The Crow’ and a creative consultant on the reboot, who recently revealed that his pick for the role was Sam Witwer, star of the US version of TV’s ‘Being Human.’

'The Crow' is to be directed by another Brit, Corin Hardy, an experienced music video and short film director who recently made his feature debut with horror movie 'The Hallow,' a hit at the Sundance Film Festival which is anticipated to be released later this year.

Edward R Pressman and Jeff Most, producers of the 1994 original, are producing the reboot along with Jeff Waxman, and it is promised this new take will be closer to the original graphic novel than the earlier film, or any of its lacklustre sequels.
