James Cameron says he clashed with 'Deadpool' director Tim Miller while editing of 'Terminator: Dark Fate'

James Cameron has revealed that there were some pretty severe differences of opinion while stitching together Terminator: Dark Fate.

It appears that Cameron, who returned as a producer on the franchise for the first time since Terminator 2: Judgement Day, met his match with director Tim Miller, helmsman of Deadpool.

Asked if there were disagreements in the edit, Cameron told Cinemablend: “I would say many. And the blood is still being scrubbed off the walls from those creative battles.

“This is a film that was forged in fire. So yeah, but that's the creative process, right?”

Cameron when on to say that it was rather a different experience to the last movie he producer, the sci-fi actioner Alita: Battle Angel with Robert Rodriguez.

“I mean, my work with Robert on Alita was very different. Robert loved the script, loved everything, said, 'I just want to make this movie. I want to make the movie the way you see it.' I was like, ‘No, you got to make it your movie,’” he said.

“I had the reverse experience with Tim, which is Tim wanted to make it his movie. And I'm like, ‘Yeah, but I kind of know a little about this world.’

“So I had the matter and the anti-matter version of that producorial experience.”

The movie arrived in the UK last week, but to mixed reviews, though to better reviews than more recent Terminator movies.

It's released worldwide tomorrow.

Cameron is currently busy in New Zealand, making his Avatar sequel movies. The first is due out on December 17, 2021.
