James Gunn Teases Deleted Guardians Of The Galaxy Musical Scene

Writer-director James Gunn has promised a deleted musical scene will be featured on the Blu-Ray release of his Marvel movie ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’

Anyone who’s seen ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ will doubtless have had many of the catchy pop songs from Peter Quill’s ‘awesome mix’ tape stuck in their head all summer – and it turns out there’s at least one more song that was originally set to be featured.

Gunn has shared a photo on Instagram of himself with actor Spencer Wilding, the blue-skinned Kree prison guard who confiscates Quill’s treasured Walkman, and seems to enjoy listening to Blue Swede’s ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ and Rupert Holmes’ ‘Escape (The Pina Colada Song).’

However, as Gunn reveals, there was one more tune we didn’t get to see Wilding get his groove on to – in a scene which would see him toy with another of Quill’s sacred childhood artefacts, a tub of Play-Doh.

“Spencer got the Play-Doh for a scene where he danced through the prison listening to Quill’s Walkman (specifically, Magic by Pilot). We cut the scene for many reasons, but it was awesome and hilarious…”

Predicting the reaction of fans, Gunn went on to promise, “yes, before you ask me a thousand times below, it WILL be on the Blu-Ray outtakes, and no I will not tell you the release date - you can go see the movie again!”

For a film that was considered a risky move on Marvel’s part, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ has proved quite a hit, raking in upwards of $588 million worldwide thus far. Gunn and the cast are expected to return for a sequel.
