James Wan Set To Direct Aquaman for Warner Bros

‘Fast & Furious 7’ director James Wan is close to signing a deal that will see him helm 'Aquaman’ for Warner Bros’ DC Comics Cinematic Universe.

'Game of Thrones’ actor Jason Momoa will star as the Atlantean prince.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Wan will also oversee screenwriter Kurt Johnstad as he writes the film’s script ahead of full production in 2017.

Wan is a highly sought-after director now following the enormous success of 'Fast & Furious 7’, which is about to leapfrog Marvel’s 'Avengers Assemble’ to become the third highest-grossing movie of all time.

THR’s report also reveals that Wan has signed a deal with Sony to direc 'Robotech’ based on an 1980s anime - which is likely his next project once he’s done counting his 'Fast & Furious’ money.

'Aquaman’ will be the fourth solo movie for a Justice League member in the DCU after Superman in 'Man of Steel’, 'Wonder Woman’ in 2017 and 'The Flash’ in 2018.

Momoa will first appear in next year’s 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, then 'Justice League: Part One’ in late 2017.

'Aquaman’ is pencilled in for release on 27 July 2018.
