Jeremy Irons’ Alfred Will Be ‘More Hands On’ in Batman v Superman

Jeremy Irons has said his portrayal as Alfred Pennyworth in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will be different to previous big screen versions of the character.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Irons also said he doesn’t have a very large role in the movie due to its enormous cast.

"He is quite a different Alfred than we have seen so far. Zack Snyder had very clear views about what he wanted," Irons explained.

"I would just say he’s more hands-on perhaps than just a butler."

Irons role will see him share the screen with new Batman Ben Affleck, and will probably return to the part in future films starring the new Dark Knight.

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ stars Affleck, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jason Momoa as Aquman, as well as Laurence Fishburne, Ray Fisher, Diane Lane and Holly Hunter.

The film will further set-up the Warner Bros’ made DC Comics film universe, which will continue in 2016 with ‘Suicide Squad’ starring Will Smith and Tom Hardy, then ‘Wonder Woman’, directed by Michelle MacLaren in 2017.

The major heroes will then join up for the first ‘Justice League’ movie later that year.

Directed by Zack Snyder the film will be released on 25 March 2016.
