Jessica Chastain Wants To Be In Star Wars

‘Star Wars VII’ may have finished filming, but an appearance in the upcoming sequel trilogy is still high on Jessica Chastain’s wish list…

It’s no surprise that anyone and everyone wants to be in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequels… after all, they’re the reason many actors went into the craft in the first place. But what about if your fellow cast members have already landed a role in the galaxy far, far away?

Jessica Chastain seems rather jealous of Oscar Isaac’s role in ‘Star Wars VII’… and admits she’d love to get the chance herself.

During an interview with Digital Spy, the 37-year-old actress revealed that she’d love to head to the galaxy far, far away.

“They never sent me the script,” she laughed. “I would have absolutely been in ‘Star Wars’, I would have loved to be in Star Wars,” she added. “I know they’re going to make more so…”

Of course, Chastain isn’t the first actor to express an interest in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequels… and she certainly won’t be the last. But for her, it’s all about finding a role that she really, really loves to play.

“Listen, I’m an actor because I love film I love going to the movies I love comedies and so many different kinds of films, sci-fi, drama, horror films I love them all. And I’d love to do anything it just has to be a good role. You know like I don’t want to just stand there and hold a spoon, I really want to do something fun and I would absolutely would love it.”

But could Jessica Chastain be the perfect choice for a character that may or may not appear?

Obviously, I’m referring to Luke Skywalker’s love interest from the former Expanded Universe, Mara Jade. The red-headed beauty was a main character in many of the larger stories of the off-screen ‘Star Wars’ universe. And while there’s no indication that she’ll make the transition to the big screen, I can’t help thinking that Chastain would be perfect.

Even in her own spin-off movie.

Unfortunately, we still have no idea what’s going to happen in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ sequel… or which Expanded Universe characters have made the cut (if any).

Either way, perhaps Lucasfilm should consider Jessica Chastain for a role. After all, her performance in ‘Interstellar’ was out of this world.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.
