JJ Abrams On 'Intense and Terrifying' Star Wars Experience

Directing the first ‘Star Wars’ film in a decade has understandably made JJ Abrams a very busy man, so it’s no surprise that his interactions with the press have been minimal since getting the job, and his interactions with the public limited to carefully planned videos and tweets.

On the red carpet at the National Board Of Review Awards Gala in New York however, Abrams spoke briefly to MTV about his work on ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’

"It is without question an intense and terrifying prospect", Abrams said when asked about the level of anticipation for his film.

"It’s also the opportunity I think, that’s greater than the fear. Greater than the risk, and so I’m more excited about the work that everyone has done on the movie, and this incredible cast".

Looking back on the shoot (the film is currently in post-production) Abrams added: “It was an amazing experience making this movie for everyone. There was a weird buzz in the air when we were making this movie, but we were all just aware of how hard we had to work to make it something worthy of people’s time.”

The ‘Super 8’ and ‘Star Trek’ man was then presumably caught in a big net by Disney executives and shipped back to the editing suite to continue his work. Damn layabout*.

'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Issaac and returning stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. It is set for release on 18 December THIS ACTUAL YEAR (it's strange writing that for the first time).
