Joss Whedon Reveals Spider-Man Regrets (Exclusive)

Avengers: Age of Ultron’ director Joss Whedon has admitted he’s disappointed that he’ll not get to write for Spider-Man when he returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Avengers: Infinity Wars’.

“Yeah [I’d like to have worked on Spider-Man], he’s the poster child,” he tells Yahoo Movies in our interview above. “He’s the first book I read, and I think that’s true for a lot of people.

“There are so many things I would want to do, even with these characters [The Avengers], even with just one of these characters. But the fact of the matter is: they’re doing fine, and I’ve probably got to move on.”

Whedon is passing the baton on to ‘Captain America 2′ directors Joe and Anthony Russo who’ll shoot both ‘Avengers: Infinity Wars’ movies back-to-back for release in 2018 & 2019. Spider-Man is set to feature in at least one of those films after a deal was struck between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios to share the character in the future.

One person who is likely to work with Spider-Man in the future - and is pretty excited by the prospect - is Paul Bettany. He plays new character the Vision in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, a synthezoid superhero whose story will continue in future films.

“I think it’s great that Marvel and Sony have worked this out,” he tells us,

“Because these films are made by fans and to see Spider-Man come to life in these movies, where he should be… is going to be great.”

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ is in UK cinemas nationwide today.
