Joss Whedon Wanted Daredevil To Be A Movie

‘Daredevil’ has been a resolute success for Marvel since it premiered on Netflix earlier this month. However there’s one man who believes that it should have been created for the big-screen rather than for web-television, and he just so happens to be Marvel’s most renowned director: Joss Whedon.

Joss Whedon was speaking to IGN ahead of the release of ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ in the United States on Friday when he was asked for his opinion on ‘Daredevil’.

Whedon, who also made it clear that he’s a big fan of Daredevil by insisting that he’s basically Marvel’s version of Batman, admitted that he still hasn’t had a chance to watch Drew Goddard’s series because of his ‘Age Of Ultron’ press duties, before detailing his involvement in its development.

“I fought for ‘Daredevil’ to be a film instead of a TV show,” Whedon recalled. But he admitted he soon changed his tune because of who is involved. “Then under the auspices of Drew Goddard and Steve DeKnight, I’m dying to see the show but they released it just as I started the press tour!”

Whedon was man enough to admit that he might have been wrong , declaring, “If the show’s working, the show’s working. Comic books are serialized entertainment and a lot of them lend themselves to TV shows as much or more than they do to movies.”

‘Daredevil’ has clearly resonated with small-screen audiences too, because it has been met with such sterling reviews from viewers and critics alike that a second series has already been ordered.

Plus, Charlie Cox also recently revealed that he is contractually obliged to appear in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as Matt Murdock so another big-screen opportunity still might come the character’s way in the near future. Fingers crossed it’s better than the 2003 effort, because if it’s not then all of Marvel’s good work could be undone in one fail swoop.
