Lea Seydoux To Be The Next Bond Girl?

'Blue Is The Warmest Colour' actress Lea Seydoux is reportedly in line to scoop a lead role in the forthcoming Bond film.

Seydoux, who made her name in the controversial Palm d’Or-winning drama, is said to be the ‘top choice’ - according to film site Schmoes Know, who cite a ‘very trusted source’ - to appear opposite Daniel Craig in the so-far nameless Bond 24.

It may be that she is the ‘stunningly attractive European love interest’ that the filmmakers are seeking, according to casting information.

The rumours follow news that Swedish actresses Ida Engvoll and Disa Östrand had also screen-tested for roles in the movie.

Elsewhere, it’s also claimed that director Sam Mendes is on the lookout for an actress to play Miranda Frost, a regular name in the Bond series and last played by Rosamund Pike in ‘Die Another Day’, opposite Pierce Brosnan.

Though the film isn’t due out until late 2015 – October 23 to be exact – some news from the production is certainly expected in the coming weeks.

It follows reports that singer Sam Smith is among the front-runners to succeed Adele in providing the next Bond theme.

MGM are said to be mulling signing the ‘Stay With Me’ singer for the task.

A source told The Sun: “Sam is our top choice. He has the profile, cool image and astonishing voice to record a Bond theme.

“And there is only so long we can hold out for Adele. Daniel Craig was pushing for her because she did such a great job last time around.

“But from her perspective, how can she better what she did with Skyfall? She won an Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe and had a global number one.”

News also emerged last month that the John Logan-penned script for this latest incarnation of 007 was being reworked by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade – all three of whom wrote ‘Skyfall’ – to add ‘more gags and witty repartee’.

The re-write is said to have plunged the production into ‘polite turmoil’, according to the Daily Mail’s Bond authority Baz Bamigboye.

It’s now thought it will start filming in December.
