Liam Neeson Reveals Death Pact With Wife Natasha Richardson

Liam Neeson has opened up about the death of his wife Natasha Richardson five years ago in a heartbreaking new interview.

The action star told Loaded magazine, “Her death was never real. It still kind of isn’t.

"There’s periods now when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years… anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I’m going to hear her."

Natasha, who is part of the famous acting dynasty which included her mother Vanessa Redgrave and grandfather Michael Redgrave, suffered a serious head injury in a ski accident and died in 2009 aged just 45.

The star of ‘Taken’ opened up about his reaction on being told his wife was braindead.

"I went in to her and I just told her I loved her. I said, ‘Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this’.

"She and I had made a pact. If any of us got into a vegetative state we’d pull the plug.

"So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff that was my immediate thought, ‘OK, these tubes have to go. She’s gone’."

Neeson admitted that he sometimes gets overcome while filming certain scenes.

"It hits you," he said. "It’s like a wave. You just get this profound feeling of instability.

"The earth isn’t stable any more and then it passes and it becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes."

The couple, who married 20 years ago following Natasha’s split from producer Robert Fox, had two children together. Micheál, now 18, and Daniel, 17.

They both live with their father in the US.
