Liam Neeson – 'Taken 3 Will Be The End'

He’s said it before, and he’ll say it again… Liam Neeson has insisted that there will not be a ‘Taken 4’.

Actually, when he said it the first time, it was about ‘Taken 3’, but more on that in a moment.

Speaking to USA Today, along with his co-star Forest Whitaker, the Irish latter-day action star insisted that ‘Taken 3’ will be the last time he plays angry former CIA man Bryan Mills.

“There’s no big fight between us, which I would have loved,” said Whitaker, then joking, ‘that will have to wait until Taken 4’.

But Neeson was quick to interject: “It’s a rollicking good story… But I think this is the end.

“If I feel audiences saying, ‘Come on, he’s 62, enough is enough,’ I’m very sensitive to that and if I pick up that vibe it will all stop. And I’ll start playing dads or grandfathers.

“But I keep myself pretty fit and my knees are still great. And it’s fun.”

Now, while we’re reticent to challenge the man with ‘a very particular set of skills’, we have heard all this before.

Following ‘Taken 2’, Neeson went as fas as to mock the possibility of a third movie in the series.

Speaking to Empire in 2012, he said: “I don’t see [a third film being made]. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I really don’t.

“I can’t see a possible scenario where audiences wouldn’t go, ‘Oh, come on! She’s taken again?’”

In the first film, released in 2008, it was Mills’ daughter that was ‘taken’ by human traffickers while travelling in Paris.

Then in the second movie, released four years later, it is Mills and his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) who are held captive in a revenge kidnapping.

In the third movie, due out in January, Mills is falsely accused of murder and uses his ‘particular set of skills’ to track the real perp.

It’s no huge surprise that a third film has emerged.

Thus far, with a joint budget of $70 million (£42 million), the movies have made a huge return of over $600 million (£365 million).
