Lionsgate Moves Forward With John Wick Sequel

Lionsgate on Monday made it official: John Wick 2 is in the works, with Summit Entertainment to release the Keanu Reeves revenge pic and Lionsgate International to start shopping the sequel at Cannes.

John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are developing a follow-up to the 2014 breakout hit, with Reeves and screenwriter Derek Kolstad also returning for the sequel.

The film will be produced by Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk, who produced the first film. “With such tremendous fan and critical support for John Wick, we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell,” said Jason Constantine, president acquisitions and co-productions at Lionsgate, in a statement.

Constantine and Eda Kowan at will oversee the project for the studio.
