The film was officially greenlit back in 2003, but was cancelled in 2004 due to the outbreak of the Iraq war. A 3D animated version was later mooted then also dropped before ‘Fury Road’ finally began shooting with Tom Hardy back in July 2012.

Whatever problems the shoot may have faced seem to be a distant memory now as the footage, which debuted at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, became the most talked about highlights of the show.
