Mad Max: Fury Road – The Insane First Trailer

Mad Max: Fury Road – The Insane First Trailer

It's taken 25 years of development hell and a few re-shoots, but the long-awaited trailer for 'Mad Max: Fury Road' has landed.

And it's utterly bananas. In a really, really good way.

George Miller's post-apocalyptic ballet features the scorched earth, old time cars converted into battle-ready killing machines, Yuri Temirkanov's Dies Irae, bizarre breathing equipment, men with make-up and more things to impale yourself on than should have rightly passed the risk assessments.

And all this from the director who went on to make 'Happy Feet'. And 'Happy Feet 2'. And 'Babe: Pig In The City'.

It's lurid, violent and jarring in the way that every post-apocalypse movie should be, and appears to be keeping very much in line, tone-wise, with its gung-ho predecessors.

That something that looks so vehemently original is coming from a major studio that is quite patently taking a massive gamble is a wonderful thing indeed.

"My world is fire and blood," says Tom Hardy, who has taken on the mantle of Mel, playing road grizzled road warrior 'Mad' Max Rockatansky.

What's going on is anyone's guess, but from the rough plot synopsis, Max and Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron have to traverse safely across the desert amidst war over the remaining oil and water.

Basically, this has just hiked up a good 20 places on our movies for 2015 list.

It also stars Nicholas Hoult and is due out on May 15.
