Man Of Steel’s Russell Crowe Has An Idea For Jor-El Prequel

A couple of months back it was suggested that a ‘Man Of Steel’ prequel was being considered that would revolve around Russell Crowe’s Jor-El.

Now that we have all been privy to Warner Bros.’s upcoming DC slate it doesn’t look like a Jor-El movie is going to happen anytime soon, but Russell Crowe has now admitted that he is still interested.

“What sparked my interest once I saw how Zack [Snyder] was creating Krypton,” Crowe explained to MTV. “I’d like to see what made Jor-El, Jor-El. What made him and Zod, who are folklorically friends, what split them apart.”

Funnily enough, David Goyer is actually currently working on the television series ‘Krypton’, with the SyFy Channel, which is set to examine Jor-El’s origins. However it’s unlikely that Russell Crowe is so intent on continuing his portrayal of Jor-El that he’ll appear on the small screen as the character.

And with Warner Bros. obviously only looking to Superman’s future with ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ and the ‘Justice League’ movies it’s unlikely that Jor-El, who died twice in ‘Man Of Steel’, will still get a look in.

Which is a shame, because even though he only had a small stint as the character, Russell Crowe did a sterling job as the Kryptonion, and more than stepped into the shoes that Marlon Brando had vacated as the character over 30 years earlier.

Hopeful some flashbacks might give us a further look at Crowe’s incarnation somewhere down the line. Just don’t expect that to be when ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ hits next summer, since that’s already jam-packed.
