Mark Ruffalo Really Wants A Part In Star Wars Episode VIII

Mark Ruffalo has admitted that he really, really, really wants a role in ‘Star Wars:  Episode VIII’, and he’s even going to play the friendship card in order to try and secure one.

Ruffalo previously worked with director Rian Johnson on ‘The Brothers Bloom’ and during a Reddit AMA he was asked what it was like to work with the filmmaker, which he then used to segway into a request to feature in the ‘Star Wars’ universe.

“Loved working with Rian,” Ruffalo opined. “He is an incredibly gifted filmmaker and a really fine man.” After buttering him up nicely Ruffalo then went straight in with, “I hope he has a place for me in the new ‘Star Wars’. Knock knock, Rian.”

While it’s safe to say that Ruffalo’s comments were clearly only meant in jest, the world would be a much better place if Johnson decided to follow the actor’s advice and cast him in the eighth instalment to the series.

In fact, it’s a little disheartening to hear that Ruffalo is only joking about starring in ‘Star Wars’. Surely by this point Johnson should have already asked the ‘Zodiac’ and ‘13 Going On 30’ actor to feature. Ruffalo would have then instantly agreed, and now he should be flatly denying everything to do with ‘Star Wars’.

Warning, there are a few ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ spoilers ahead so proceed with caution. There’s every chance that Ruffalo’s schedule could be free for a role in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ too.

The end of ‘Age Of Ultron’ suggested that the Hulk/Bruce Banner will be off the radar for quite some time, and he’s only like to return in ‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1’ or ‘Part 2’ at the earliest. These are due out on May 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019, respectively, while ‘Episode VIII’ will hit cinemas on May 26, 2017.

So basically if Ruffalo doesn’t appear in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ then the blame can firmly be laid at the feet of Johnson, who is writing and directing the blockbuster follow-up to J.J Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
