Marvel Announces Release Schedule Up To 2019

Marvel Studios have revealed the release dates - but not the titles - for five further films set to be released by the comic label-turned-blockbuster factory in the years ahead.

In an official announcement at the Marvel website, the comic book movie giants inform us, “While we can’t tell you just what they are yet, you can look forward to new films hitting theaters July 28 and November 3, 2017; July 6 and November 2, 2018; and May 3, 2019.”

This makes 2017 a very busy year for the studio, as these July and November releases come on top of the previously announced release on 5 May 2017 - for which, again, the title has not yet been revealed.

Indeed, the only movie beyond 2015 that we know for sure right now is the third ‘Captain America’ movie, notoriously set to open back-to-back with Warner Bros/DC’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ on 6 May 2016.

A further release on 8 July 2016 is widely suspected to be ‘Doctor Strange,’ although Marvel have not yet made an official statement to this effect. Still, as director Scott Derrickson is confirmed to be on board that project, we can safely assume ‘Doctor Strange’ is one of the mystery seven movies.

So what of the remaining six? Presumably one of these will be the third ‘Avengers’ movie, whilst a third ‘Thor’ and possibly a second 'Guardians of the Galaxy' also seem very likely.

Then there’s always the possibility of solo movies for Black Widow or The Hulk, as we often hear talk about - and a fourth ‘Iron Man’ hasn’t necessarily been ruled out.

Still, surely some among this mystery sextet will give previously unfilmed Marvel characters their big-screen break - but who? ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘Black Panther’ perhaps? Or, as Marvel head further out into the cosmos, might ‘Adam Warlock’ make the grade…?

Obviously, we can only guess at this point. All we know for sure is that Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hits cinemas next at the end of July, whilst ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ lands on 2 May 2015, followed by ‘Ant-Man’ on 17 July 2015.
