Marvel Release New Ant-Man Poster

Marvel has released a brand new poster for their next big blockbuster ‘Ant-Man’ and it’s a doozy.

The new image released on Twitter features the title character riding an insect with what appears to be a tiny saddle. Awwww. What’s not so 'awwww’ are the bullets hurtling towards him.

Paul Rudd is the man in the suit as Scott Lang, a version of the character gifted the suit by its original owner Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas.

The suit affords him the ability to shrink in size (hence the name) and communicate with insects, which will come in handy as they go head-to-tiny-head with Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross, who has his own “Yellowjacket” suit.

The film also stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Judy Greer, Michael Pena, Bobby Cannavale and John Slattery and Hayley Atwell in flashback sequences as Howard Stark and Peggy Carter.

'Ant-Man’ has had a long and problematic road to the big screen. British cult director Edgar Wright wrote the original script and was set to direct, but creative differences led to his departure and the introduction of Peyton Reed as director and Adam McKay, who tinkered with Wright’s script.

Wright’s cast remained however, and the most recent trailer (with its memorable Thomas The Tank Engine cameo) hints that Wright’s fingerprints remain on the film - which will still credit him as writer.

Despite its strong cast and Wright’s involvement some still predict this will be Marvel Studio’s first real flop. So it will be a test of the Marvel machine’s power and audience appetite for another superhero adventure so soon after 'Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

Personally I think it’ll do just fine.

'Ant-Man’ is set for release on 17 July.
