Marvel star Samuel L Jackson's new movie lands summer release date
Marvel and Star Wars legend (he doesn't like that label but it's true) Samuel L Jackson is returning to our screens soon, as his new movie The Protégé has landed itself a summer release date.
As noted in The Hollywood Reporter, the actor's latest movie is hitting United States cinemas this summer, on August 20.
The film also stars Designated Survivor and the Divergent franchise actor Maggie Q as an assassin named Anna, who was raised by Jackson's character, Moody Dutton, after he found her in the aftermath of a horrific massacre.

But tragedy strikes when Dutton himself is murdered, and she sets off an a globe-trotting mission of revenge, aided by a mysterious stranger. Batman and fellow Marvel star Michael Keaton is said to be playing a character named Rembrandt, which we're assuming is said mysterious stranger.
The studio has also given release dates for Jennifer Lopez's romantic comedy Shotgun Wedding, coming out on June 29 next year. White Bird: A Wonder, starring Sex Education's Gillian Anderson and Hobbs & Shaw's Helen Mirren, will release on September 16, 2022.
