Marvel’s Doctor Strange Begins Production In London

Doctor Strange is currently on call… as director Scott Derrickson heads to London to begin filming Marvel’s next blockbuster.

According to the man himself, Scott Derrickson has already begun the trip to London for the production of the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ solo movie.

“Leaving for London to make Doctor Strange,” he said via Twitter. But what does that mean for the good Doctor?

Played by Benedict Cumberbatch, it’s no secret that Doctor Stephen Strange is well-versed in the mystical arts. But will his worldly travels in search of ancient artefacts and understanding of his own mystical powers bring him to London?

Perhaps… but with Pinewood Studios just around the corner, it’s equally likely that this will serve as the production base for the upcoming movie. After all, Marvel already has a rather large presence at the studio – having recently filmed ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ at the facility.

Of course, with Benedict Cumberbatch in the role, it would be nice to see London touched upon in the story… and with New York recently mentioned as Scott Derrickson was scouting for locations, perhaps it would make a nice change.

And then there’s the rest of the rumoured cast – including Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor… all British.

Could we see London actually play backdrop to some of Strange’s tale? Personally, I’d love to see Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme head to the streets of London. And with the capital’s obvious historical background, perhaps a visit to a British museum or two.

You know… to recover or identify some mystical relics?

Either way, it looks as though ‘Doctor Strange’ is about to start filming… and that’s likely to mean plenty of reveals and set images in the coming months. But will Benedict Cumberbatch make the perfect Doctor Strange?

I get the feeling it won’t be too long before we find out.
