Back in 2013 the actor, currently promoting ‘Ant-Man’, told The Guardian that his tongue cancer was the result of performing cunnilingus on the ‘Chicago’ actress, a declaration which may have contributed to the pair’s brief break-up in August of that year.

Now, the 70-year-old ‘Wall Street’ legend has apologized to the missus, telling Event magazine, “It was one of those things…and I so regretted any embarrassment that it caused Catherine and her family.”

Luckily, he is now cancer-free, revealing to the Guardian that it took years off him.

“It feels like a rebirth after you go through cancer and you come out of it,” he said. “You feel like you’re a child.”

It also made his marriage stronger.

“I love Catherine as much, more than I ever have,“ he admitted to Event. “And hopefully the feeling’s mutual…We worked things out—if both people want to work something out and make it better, you can do it. You can’t do it if it’s just one person.”

Douglas plays mentor and Ant-Man suit creator Hank Pym in the new superhero movie, which stars Paul Rudd.

He will also feature alongside Orlando Bloom and Noomi Rapace in 2016 thriller ‘Unlocked’ and star as Ronald Reagan in ‘Reykjavik’, based on real-life political events.
