Michael Fassbender’s X-Men Contract Ends After Apocalypse

Michael Fassbender has reached the end of his ‘X-Men’ contract after ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’… but will 20th Century Fox renew his deal?

It’s no secret that a number of ‘X-Men’ contracts are coming to an end. Nicholas Hoult recently revealed he’s at the end of his deal and Jennifer Lawrence has already admitted that she won’t return after the upcoming sequel. But what about Michael Fassbender?

It looks as though Magneto is happy to stay on… if they’ll have him.

During an interview with Variety, the 38-year-old Marvel mutant revealed that his contract will shortly come to an end… but he’d love to sign another deal.

“I will shoot a hundred of them,” he said when asked if he would return. “The contract is in three film deals, and this is the last of that. But I’ll be curious to see what happens next.”

I get the feeling it’ll be some time before we find out where the ‘X-Men’ franchise goes from here. After all, the folks at Fox won’t want to give away too much when it comes to ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

But I get the feeling that some of our favourite mutants may not make it through this one.

After all, with Jennifer Lawrence leaving, it’s quite an opportunity to give Mystique a rather impressive send-off. And with Hugh Jackman about to hang up those adamantium claws, it’s starting to look as though the usual line-up will be undergoing some rather drastic changes.

But will Michael Fassbender’s Magneto remain?

Ever since his first appearance in ‘X-Men: First Class’, the young actor has turned in a truly remarkable performance as the young Erik Lensherr. And after ‘Days of Future Past’, there’s still plenty of story left to tell when it comes to the iconic Marvel villain.

Of course, it all depends on what happens during the events of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. Will the X-Men come out the other end unscathed, or will there be a few casualties? Surely it’s a given that Magneto will survive. But will he be back?

We’ll have to wait and see.
