Michael Keaton: ‘I’m Batman’

It may be over twenty years since he last graced the screen as the Caped Crusader, but Michael Keaton admits – he’s still Batman.

It’s no secret that batman is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time… and certainly one of the most recognisable. But while Michael Keaton was the first to bring him to the big screen, there’s been plenty of actors to put on the cape and cowl since.

But how does Keaton feel about that? It doesn’t matter – he’s still the Batman.

During an interview with Shortlist Magazine, the 63-year-old former-Batman was asked whether or not he felt jealous of Ben Affleck taking over the cape and cowl…

“No,” he replied. “Do you know why? Because I’m Batman. I’m very secure in that.”

Of course, you have to hand it to him – that was pretty much the perfect answer for any Batman to give on the matter. And whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit, it’s a pretty ballsy response.

Especially after Christian Bale recently admitted that he can’t stand to see someone else taking his place.

“I’m 40,” he told Empire Magazine. “The fact that I’m jealous of someone else playing Batman… I think I should have gotten over it by now. I haven’t spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did.”

Of course, both Batmen have become renowned for the role… and with Ben Affleck due to being the Dark Knight back to our screens in ‘Batman V Superman’ it looks as though there will be yet-another name to go down in Batman history.

But will he be as good as Michael Keaton? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Batman V Superman’ appears in cinemas on 25 March 2016.
