Mickey Rourke Steps Out With Bizarre Hairpiece

Mickey Rourke’s reliability in the strange sartorial choices department is well-documented.

But excelling even himself, the actor-turned-boxer-turned-actor emerged yesterday with an unusual hairpiece to add to his recent fashion faux-pas.

The shock of silver hair did indeed appear to have been shocked – perhaps with a car battery, protruding as it was almost vertically from his head.

Accompanied with a leather waistcoat, 61-year-old Mr Rourke cut a dash while out and about in New York.

But while the sterling quiff may have looked wild yesterday, he’s managed to tame the same hairpiece - to an extent - more effectively in recent weeks, as seen here:

This week, he hit the headlines while in Moscow where he queued at an upscale department store to buy a smart new t-shirt emblazoned with the visage of Russian premier Vladimir Putin.

It came during a time when Rourke and Steven Seagal appear to be only dissenting voices in Hollywood in supporting the president, though Rourke has been a tad less vocal than Seagal.

He then went on to explain: “If I didn’t like him, I wouldn’t buy the T-shirt believe me.

“I met him a couple of times and he was a real gentleman, a very cool regular guy, looked me right in the eye. I think he is a good guy. If I didn’t, believe I wouldn’t wear the T-shirt.

“I have a Russian girlfriend, that’s all I care about. Her father is a good person, her mother’s great, her babushka’s wonderful. To me it’s all about family. I don’t give a f**k about the politics. That’s not my department.”

Rourke later told talk show host Jimmy Fallon that he’d bought the Putin shirt because it was being sold to raise money for an operation for a sick Ukrainian boy.

He’ll next be seen on screen reprising his role as cartoon thug Marv in ‘Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For’, due out in the UK on August 22.
