"When you’re shooting a movie, especially this movie with Josh Trank he has a very specific tone whether it is ‘Chronicle’ or what he did with this, but as an actor you don’t really know what kind of movie it is until you see them cut it together," he said.

"That is the first we saw any footage. I was excited and I know that for the most part the concensus is good."

Teller’s star-making performance in ‘Whiplash’ has set him up nicely for a blockbuster leading role as Reed Richards - the patriach of Marvel’s first family.

The 28-year-old played a part in this year’s Oscars ceremony, appearing backstage playing the drums in a scene aping Best Picture winner ‘Birdman’ and his own ‘Whiplash’.

Teller will star in the film opposite Kate Mara as Susan Storm, Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm.

'The Fantastic Four' will be released on 6 August 2015.
