Miles Teller on Fantastic Four Casting Process

'The Fantastic Four' star Miles Teller has opened up about the casting process of Fox's franchise reboot, saying it “took a lot of convincing” for him to get the part as Reed Richards.

Speaking to MTV News the young star said: “It took a lot of convincing. For me with Reed Richards, I know [director Josh Trank] really had to [pull for me]. Josh did for all of the characters.

"For Jamie [Bell] he really vouched for him. For [Michael B Jordan] he was like, ‘This is my guy’ from the bat. He was very specific on who he wanted to play these characters. I was his guy for it."

Teller also spoke of Jordan taking on the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch - a character typically depicted as white. He and Josh really bonded on ‘Chronicle’, and they came up with the idea. I think it’s great. It is a big thing,” he said.

"You’re changing the race of a character. It’s like, ‘Why couldn’t the Human Torch be black?’ All these characters were spawned in this time that everything - the races, social awareness - was so one-sided."

The 27-year-old also talked about ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ star Toby Kebbell, who plays villain Doctor Doom. “I think people are really going to dig what he did with it,” Teller said. “He’s just a good actor.”

Teller stars alongside Jordan, Jamie Bell as The Thing and Kate Mara as Sue Storm, aka The Invisible Woman.

'The Fantastic Four' is set for release on August 7, 2015.
