Neill Blomkamp Reveals Unofficial Alien Sequel Plans & Concept Art
Director Neill Blomkamp has released some exciting concept art from an unrealised ‘Alien’ sequel which he was working on at some point in the recent past.
Now, before we get too excited we should note that the ‘District 9’ and ‘Elysium’ filmmaker admits that his plans were 100% unofficial, stressing on Twitter that 20th Century Fox “didn’t really even know I was working on it.”
Even so, for fans of the ‘Alien’ franchise these hint at something very exciting which might have been - notably for the return of both Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, and Michael Biehn’s Hicks from ‘Aliens,’ controversially killed off-screen before the beginning of ‘Alien³.’

Quite what Blomkamp had in mind story-wise is anyone’s guess, but these images suggest something bold and fan-pleasing…

These last two images are perhaps the most intriguing, as they would suggest some crossover with the new mythology introduced by Ridley Scott’s 2012 ‘Alien’ prequel ‘Prometheus.’
Perhaps Blomkamp envisaged a movie which would tie together all the loose strands of the ‘Alien’ franchise - something which Sigourney Weaver herself has long professed the desire to make.
Still, even if this was what Blomkamp was working towards, he was not doing so at 20th Century Fox’s behest:
Ps this has nothing to do with the studio. I just feel like I might do something else instead. In which case why not show some work-
