New ‘Inside Out’ Still Released

A brand-spanking new image for ‘Inside Out’ has been released and it gives us our best look at the consciousness of the film’s protagonist, 11-year-old Riley, yet.

‘Inside Out ‘is set inside the mind of Riley as her five emotions try to assist her through life. You can check out the new picture, which came courtesy of Empire, below.

Even though there really isn’t too much to the image it does give us a good indication about the mise-en-scene for ‘Inside Out’.

It looks as though the team over at Pixar have decided to keep the inside of Riley’s mind very simple. There’s a sofa, a control desk, and a big screen that projects Riley’s feelings and viewpoint, but other than that it’s pretty barren.

Which is a good thing. Because as the first trailer for ‘Inside Out’ showed, it looks as though the film will have around three or four plots running simultaneously - Riley’s plot, the plot inside Riley’s mind that stars her emotions, and possibly the plot inside other characters’ minds too.

‘Inside Out’ looks set to be one of the most interesting and original films of 2015. While it’s also hoped that it will help to lift Pixar out of the recent slump that it has been in.

Since ‘Toy Story 3’, the likes of ‘Cars 2’, ‘Brave’ and ‘Monsters University’ while impressive have hardly matched the calibre of Pixar’s most esteemed efforts.

Other than the film’s ingenious premise another reason to be excited for ‘Inside Out’ is that it comes from the mind of Pete Docter, who has previously directed ‘Up’ and ‘Monsters, Inc.’ and is once again on directing duties here, while ‘Toy Story 3’s’ Michael Arndt has written its script too.

Plus the voicing cast of Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, and Bill Hader for the emotions already appears to have been a masterstroke.

Of course, we won’t really know if ‘Inside Out’ is the triumph we all expect it to be until July 24, 2015. But the early signs are very, very promising.
