New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Will Debut In April

The second trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ will debut in mid April at the Star Wars Celebration fan convention in Anaheim, California.

Collider reports that the trailer will then be attached to ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in the US theatres come its 1 May release. Outside of theatres it is likely that the footage will first launch online some time between 16 - 19 April when the convention takes place.

For UK audiences the chances of the new trailer being attached to ‘Age of Ultron’ are slim given such deals don’t often cross the Atlantic, but it is still a possibility and the trailer will be online before then anyway. LucasFilm may wish to show fans in attendance the trailer in private, but the risk of a leaked footage will be high and those in charge will want to avoid that.

Of course none of this is unexpected. Disney is the parent company of both LucasFilm and Marvel Studios so they’re behind the release of both films, which just so happen to be the year’s two biggest films. For them not to capitalise on the masses who will swarm cinemas to see Avengers would be foolish.

Likewise it would be expected that come the release of ‘Star Wars - The Force Awakens’ in December we may well see a trailer for ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and so on as both franchises roll on.

It has been four months since LucasFilm launched the first trailer for ‘The Force Awakens’ which famously didn’t offer us much apart from glimpses of the new characters this new trilogy of Episodes will be focusing on. We saw John Boyega’s Finn, Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron.

Of course fans will be clamouring for a glimpse at original stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher in the new trailer, but we’ll have to wait and see if we will be so lucky.

Regardless of who is seen in the trailer, at the very least we’ll have some new images to use in news articles about the film.

'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' will be released on 18 December.
