New Terminator Genisys TV Spot Reveals Fearsome Mystery Robot

Oscar-winner JK Simmons takes centre stage in the brand new ‘Terminator Genisys’ TV spot, but it’s a terrifying new Terminator that’s really captured our attention.

The mystery robot appears to be a disturbing new hybrid of the classic T-800 endoskeleton of the first film and the liquid metal T-1000 seen in ‘Judgment Day’.

This new blue-eyed bot lends some weight to the rumours that ‘Terminator Genisys’ will feature a new Terminator sent back in time from the far future, a time era that’s never been explored before in the franchise.

Thanks to set visit reports published this week, we know ‘Terminator Genisys’ takes places in 3 separate time periods: 1984, 2017, and 2029. This new robot could be the menace that drives the plot forward for the next two films in the planned trilogy.

JK Simmons, the other newcomer in the trailer, has largely been absent from the marketing campaign so far, but thanks to his recent Oscar win for ‘Whiplash’, he’s now being put front and centre… and rightly so.

He plays Detective O’Brien, a cop in the 2017 timeline who partners with Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) to fight Skynet.

‘Terminator Genisys’ is coming to UK cinemas on 3 July, 2015. Check out the new living poster for the film below.
