New Trailer For Amy Winehouse Doc Sheds Light On Troubled Singer

A heartbreaking new trailer for the upcoming Amy Winehouse documentary ‘Amy’ has been released off the back of the film’s Cannes premiere. You can watch it in full above.

The trailer strips back the singer’s self-destructive public image to reveal a vulnerable young girl beneath who never expected fame and “just wanted to be loved”.

Pieced together by British director Asif Kapadia (‘Senna’) using unseen archive footage, unheard music, and interviews with Amy’s closest friends and family, the doc promises to be an emotional look at a talented artist whose life publicly unraveled before her untimely death in 2011 aged just 27.

‘Amy’ premiered at Cannes Film Festival over the weekend to universal critical acclaim with The Hollywood Reporter calling it “an emotionally stirring and technically polished tribute.”

One person who isn’t as taken with the film is Amy’s dad Mitch. He’s accused Kapadia of “trying to destroy him” with the film after it appeared to suggest he’d exploited his daughter who wanted to shun the limelight.

This looks set to be big hit among Winehouse devotees.
