Star Wars 7: Latest Rumours Including Obi-Wan Kenobi Spin-Off

Perhaps there was something in the water, perhaps it was last week’s ‘supermoon’ action, but this weekend was rife with rumours from the ‘Star Wars’ universe.

Most potent of the talk amongst fansites was that Obi-Wan Kenobi – and ergo, perhaps, Ewan McGregor – is in line for one of the mooted spin-off movies.

A source has been quoted by various sites, notably Making Star Wars, putting Obi-Wan in the frame for his own vehicle.

“I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works,” said the source.

“For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters.

“But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.”

Meanwhile, it’s also been reported that Daniel Craig has tapped up J.J. Abrams for a ‘secret cameo’ in ‘Star Wars VII’.

According to The Sun: “Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role - and was happy to have his name left off the posters.

“Fans will love trying to work out which covered up character is him.”

Elsewhere, photos snapped by a Facebook user called Rick Lawrence appeared to show ‘Girls’ star Adam Driver on the movie’s set at Greenham Common.

Taken from a distance, it looked as though Driver was wearing a rebel pilot’s outfit.

If so, it would clash with previous talk of Driver playing director J.J. Abrams’ lead antagonist.

It’s also claimed that Moraband – the homeland of the Sith – also features in the new movie, with reports suggesting that one of the sets is being referred to as ‘Sith World’.

All these rumours remain thoroughly unconfirmed by either Abrams or Disney, of course. Thus far, all the official announcements have only come from the Starwars.com site.

But Abrams did last week set tongues wagging, after he posted a picture which appeared to have suspiciously Death Star-esque décor in the background.

There’s still what feels like light years to wait for the first new ‘Star Wars’ movie, however. ‘Star Wars VII’ isn’t due to hit cinemas until December 18, 2015.
