Oscar Isaac Is Constantly Reading X-Men’s Script To Get An Interesting Angle For Apocalypse

Oscar Isaac sounds as if he’s still getting to grips with his titular role as the foe in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. But rather than that being because of any struggles on his behalf, it’s simply down to the fact that he wants to find the perfect angle for the character.

Oscar Isaac made this confession while he was talking to the delightfully named Monkey Fighting Robots podcast, via Comic Book, where he confessed that he is still repeatedly re-reading the script.

“I’ve been reading the script a lot and trying to come at, for me, a interesting angle,” Isaac explained. But what does this angle consist of? Isaac certainly has an idea.

“Definitely focusing on the fact he is the embodiment of the second coming of the judgements of god and that energy going in,” he added. “We’re playing with that. What we are trying to do is make his philosophy and what his mission is, one that is both simply but also holds water, that really makes sense throughout the whole movie.”

Isaac is resolutely confident that they’ve now found the perfect way to approach the character, declaring, “I think Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer, we’ve been able to come up with something very cool.”

And with Issac’s recent track record that’s almost a certainty. Not only was his career-defining turn in ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ topped off with a more calculated yet nuanced portrayal in ‘A Most Violent Year’, but he’s followed that up with ‘Ex Machina’, and before ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ he’ll also pop up in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

All of which proves that Oscar Isaac’s career is on somewhat of an upward groove at the moment. And with his impressive approach it’s hard to see that coming to an end anytime soon.
