Pan Writer In Talks To Script Wonder Woman Movie

The team for Warner Bros/DC’s long-awaited ‘Wonder Woman’ appears to be falling into place, as director Michelle McClaren and star Gal Gadot are reportedly set to be joined by screenwriter Jason Fuchs,

The Hollywood Reporter claim that Fuchs - writer behind another upcoming Warners release, fantasy prequel ‘Pan’ - is “in negotiations” to provide the screenplay to the first solo adventure of the most famous superheroine of them all.

Still, it is noted that “Warners had no comment” on the matter, so this is not set in stone just yet.

McClaren, seasoned TV director with many episodes of ‘Breaking Bad,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ to her name, was confirmed in November to helm the film, which will see Gal Gadot take centre stage as the immortal Amazonian warrior princess after debuting in 2016’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’

Whilst it is expected Gadot’s appearance in ‘Batman V Superman’ will be relatively brief, another recent report at Badass Digest suggested her character may be of some significance to the plot of the film. It is claimed that Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor has been closely monitoring the activities of ‘metahumans’ for some time, and as such is naturally curious about “a woman who walks the streets today but who is seen in pictures from the 1800s.”

Word is, the ‘Wonder Woman’ solo movie will be a 1920s-set prequel which will begin on the mystic Amazon island Themyscira (AKA Paradise Island). While to date there are no sequels officially announced, it is also rumoured that two subsequent follow-ups may take Wonder Woman first into World War II, then modern day.

So - prequel, period setting, magical island out of time… it’s not hard to see why this might be deemed appropriate for the writer behind ‘Pan,’ a prequel to JM Barrie’s classic.

'Wonder Woman' is set to hit cinemas in June 2017, whilst at present Gadot is penciled in to reprise the role twice in the 'Justice League' movies, scheduled for November 2017 and June 2019.
