Penélope Cruz Spotted In Biker Gear On Zoolander 2 Set

Penélope Cruz is a fierce biker babe in these new photos from the set of Zoolander 2. Dressed in head-to-toe red leather, à la Britney Spears in her “Oops!… I Did It Again” video, Eddie Murphy in Delirious, or Adrienne Barbeau in Cannonball Run, the actress was photographed filming the new comedy in Rome, Italy.

In one photo, she stands beside a color-coordinated motorcycle; in another, she is conversing with Zoolander 2 director and star Ben Stiller.

Cruz reportedly signed on to the Zoolander sequel back in November, but her involvement was confirmed only last week via an Instagram announcement from Stiller. (“Excited to announce Penelope ‘Little Penny’ Cruz has joined #Zoolander2 cast!” wrote the director, accompanying his post with a childhood photo of the actress.) The Oscar winner is one of many ridiculously good-looking and talented people to come onboard the comedy, which takes place fifteen years after the events of the 2001 film. Via his Instagram account, Stiller has announced the participation of Kristen Wiig (who is barely recognizable in her extreme make-up); Fred Armisen (who packed American coffee to bring the crew); Japanese punk band Bo Ningen; current SNL cast members Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett; and Billy Zane, who made a memorable cameo as himself in the first movie.

Also reprising their roles from the original film are Stiller as model Derek Zoolander; Will Ferrell as villainous fashion mogul Mugatu; Owen Wilson as model Zoolander’s runway rival Hansel McDonald; and Christine Taylor as investigative reporter Matilda Jeffries.  Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are also rumoured to make an appearance, which would fit with the Zoolander ethos: The first film featured cameos from dozens of celebrity tastemakers, including David Bowie, Paris Hilton, Natalie Portman, Lenny Kravitz, and Victoria Beckham. Zoolander 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 16, 2016.
