Pixar Reveal New-Look Voice Cast For The Good Dinosaur

If you were hoping to hear the familiar voice of John Lithgow in this year’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’, think again, because Pixar have re-cast some of their main characters, including his.

The production has been the animation studio’s most publicly marred to date, having dropped its original choice for director Bob Peterson and replaced with Peter Sohn, and undergoing rewrites and major voice cast changes.

According to Disney Pixar’s latest press release (stating the revised voice actors), there are several noticeable omissions and additions.

The biggest causalities seem to be Lithgow’s contribution as Poppa, with Jeffrey Wright taking his place.

Other characters that were initially announced, such as Neil Patrick Harris, Judy Greer and Bill Hader, seem to have disappeared, which is a shame.

However, Frances McDormand appears to be the sole name that has survived as Arlo’s mother, Momma.

In fact, the core cast have been almost totally revamped now comprising of some lesser known names such as Raymond Ochoa -- the voice lead dino Arlo, Steve Zahn, AJ Buckley, Marcus Scribner and Jack Bright.

Sam Elliot and Anna Paquin have also boarded the project. The pair will each play a Tyrannosaurus Rex; Butch and Ramsey, respectively.

But that’s not to say the casting should differ in impact or quality. Sohn no doubt had a monumental task entering the project once it had already begun, so it was only natural some alterations would be made to suit his vision.

‘The Good Dinosaur’ is in UK cinemas from 27 November.
