Robbie Coltrane pulls out of comic con with 'continuing ill health'

Robbie Coltrane has been forced to pull out of an upcoming London comic convention due to 'continuing ill health'.

The Harry Potter star has battled a variety of illnesses in recent years after being spotted in a wheelchair in 2019.

Showmasters, the organisers of London Film and Comic Con" released a statement that read: "It is with deep regret that Robbie Coltrane has to withdraw from the July Comic Con due to his continuing ill health.

He is very sorry to disappoint his fans and supporters and hopes very much to appear at another Showmasters event when his health permits."

They added: "Obviously, we are incredibly disappointed that Robbie is not able to attend and so sad to hear of his ill health.

"Both ourselves and Robbie we're looking forward to him being at the show and we wish him the best. We will work to see if we can get Robbie to a future event, but in the meantime, vouchers will automatically be issued to any ticket holders for Robbie."

Coltrane has faced a number of issues relating osteoarthritis in his knee and has been told by doctors he needs to lose weight.

The film and TV icon, best known for his roles in Cracker, Goldeneye and the Harry Potter series, has previously commented on his recent health issues.

He said: "I'm in constant pain all day. I had an exploratory operation and they discovered I had no cartilage left in one of my knees. It's completely disintegrated."

London Film and Comic Con, which is set to take place on 8-10 July in London is still set to feature a number of huge names from the worlds of film and TV.

Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future is set to appear at the event as is Andy Serkis, David Harbour, Robert Englund, Alex Kingston and Star Trek legend William Shatner.
