Rupert Grint Reveals Surprising New Goth Look

Someone fetch Rupert Grint a facecloth and a comb!

The ‘Harry Potter’ star was snapped sporting rather dramatic eye make-up and messed up hair at the opening night after party for the new Broadway production of ‘It’s Only A Play’, prompting suggestions that he had been hitting the bottle.

Never fear though, it’s just leftover make-up from his Broadway debut as Frank Finger, a spiky-haired young stage director who wears crazy suits and guy liner, in this latest adaptation of Terrance McNally’s theatre-land spoof.

Grint has received middling notices for the star-studded sold-out show in which he appears alongside Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, F Murray Abraham, and Stockard Channing, with Variety noting a “grown up” performance from the Brit actor, while The Hollywood Reporter thinks he overdoes it saying, “[Grint] appears to have wandered in from an ‘Ab Fab’ episode.”

Overall, the reviews for the production are largely positive, and it’s already taken a packet in advance sales thanks to its starry cast-list, so it’s probably review-proof at this point anyway.

His Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe has found a fair amount of success on stage to date, including rave reviews for ‘Equus’, ‘How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying’, and more recently ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ earlier this year, helping him to transition from child star to serious thesp.

Hopefully Grint’s burgeoning stage career will give his film career a much-needed boost.
