Actor Russell Crowe has revealed that he used to receive prank calls from the late Michael Jackson, before his death in 2009.

While the pair never met, Crowe revealed in an interview with The Guardian that the pop star used to call him during hotel stays “for two or three f***ing years”.

He states, “I never met him, never shook his hand, but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under, so it didn’t matter where I was, he’d ring up and do this kind of thing, like you did when you were 10, you know.”

According to Crowe,  Jackson had a silly sense of humour right up until his death, as the star recalled a conversation the pair had, “[He would ask] ‘Is Mr. Wall there? Is Mrs. Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then what’s holding the roof up?'” He adds, “You’re supposed to grow out of doing that, right?”

The star's revelation has come during a number of press appearances while promoting his new film ‘The Water Diviner’.

During an appearance on ‘This Morning’, the star flirted throughout with the show’s host Amanda Holden, as the pair discussed the bootcamp which he sends his actors to. When Holden stated, “I wanna join your boot camp!” the actor replied “join any time”.

‘The Water Diviner’ is out on the 3 April 2015.
