New Photos Show Deadpool in Action and Ryan Reynolds's Scarred Face

It took years of continuous fan support to get Deadpool the green light, and now those fans are having their patience and persistence rewarded with copious on-set photos from the movie’s production in Vancouver.

Paparazzi have been staking out director Tim Miller’s set, and over the weekend, they caught a few particularly revealing photos of Reynolds and his stunt double as the Merc with a Mouth. Above, you can see that the costume is faithful to the character’s comic get-up (he may have super-healing capabilities, but his red suit sure takes a beating). Perhaps more importantly, you can see in the photo below that the film is going all-in on the horrible facial scars that Deadpool’s alter ego Wade Wilson received as he attained his super healing powers.

The resemblance to Star WarsEmperor Palpatine, we presume, is unintentional.

As noted in the blog VanCity Buzz, the film was shooting action sequences over the weekend; in the photo below, Reynolds’s stunt double takes to a hidden trampoline to jump over an overturned car (which is not pictured here, but you can head over to the blog for more pics).
