'Man of Steel' stars British newcomer Henry Cavill as Superman, going up against 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Take Shelter' star Michael Shannon as General Zod.
While one fan was described as being a 'blubbering mess' after seeing the footage, another said: “Any doubt I had was gone with that trailer.”
Though Superman on the big screen has long been associated with John Williams' classic score, Snyder also revealed that he'd be starting from scratch with heavyweight Hollywood score man Hans Zimmer.
“We had to act as if no film has been made. When we approached it, we had to say 'this is Superman for the first time',” said Snyder. “And you can’t say, ‘Oh, now let’s steal a little music.’ So yes, it’s awesome music but Hans (Zimmer) is going to do something awesome.”
“I just wanted to bring as much of the modern Superman into the world,” said Cavill. “You guys know everything about him. You’re there through thick and thin. This is for everyone else out there. To bring him to the modern world that everyone can associate with.”
Snyder added that 'it’s about making him work and making him cool'.
The film is due for release on June 14, 2013, and also stars Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Amy Adams.
