Abrams will still direct another Star Trek movie
Despite his new job directing Star Wars, JJ Abrams will still be involved in third Star Trek
JJ Abrams will make another 'Star Trek' film after 'Star Trek Into Darkness', despite having taken the job of directing 'Star Wars VII'.
Paramount Pictures' vice chairman Rob Moore has said that his commitment to the rebooted 'Star Trek' series won't be affected by his new job.

“JJ will continue to develop projects for us including a new 'Mission: Impossible', and he is committed to produce another 'Star Trek',” he said.
He added that Abrams' involvment in a third 'Star Trek' would be 'at the minimum as a producer, if not also directing the film'.
Abrams has now spoken, albeit briefly, about his new appointment, telling E! News: “It really is an incredible thing. It's obviously way too early to talk specifics, but I'm excited to actually start it.”
Meanwhile, it's thought that Abrams has not committed to the originally suggested 2015 release date yet, meaning that it could potentially be pushed back if necessary.
The news follows the official confirmation of Abrams as the helmsman for 'Star Wars VII' from Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy, which emerged late on Friday after the news broke across the web.
“JJ is the perfect director to helm this. Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the 'Star Wars' experience, and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture,” she said.
George Lucas added: “I’ve consistently been impressed with J.J. as a filmmaker and storyteller. He’s an ideal choice to direct the new 'Star Wars' film and the legacy couldn’t be in better hands.”
Meanwhile, Abrams himself said: “To be a part of the next chapter of the 'Star Wars' saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor. I may be even more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid.”
It's also confirmed that 'Empire Strikes Back' and 'Return of the Jedi' screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan will, as expected, be a consultant on the project, along with Simon Kinberg, show wrote Guy Richie's 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Mr and Mrs Smith'.
