Alec Baldwin slams claims his wife was tweeting at Gandolfini funeral

Yahoo UK Movies News

Most people know that if you mess with Alec Baldwin, it's not going to be pretty...

But the actor has stepped his fury up a notch after a story emerged accusing his wife of tweeting during the funeral of James Gandolfini.

The Daily Mail's George Stark posted the story yesterday evening, which stated that Hilaria Baldwin was tweeting about recipes, an upcoming appearance on a TV show and asking for advice on anniversary presents while the service was taking place.

She later posted a tweet saying that she didn't have her phone with her, after being called on her Twitter activity.

“FYI I don't believe in bringing phones into a funeral and I never did and I never would,” she said.

But her husband was less calm, and in a volley of expletive-laded missives aimed at Stark, made his feelings known, saying: “My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friend's funeral.”

He then went on to make a number of threats, some appearing to be gay slurs.

Though he claimed he didn't have a publicist during the rant, rep Matthew Hiltzik told the Huffington Post: “It is disgraceful that this reporter manufactured a story and never called for comment or explanation - especially when it needlessly diverted attention away from a day to honor the memory of a beloved figure like Mr Gandolfini.”

Baldwin has since disabled his Twitter account.

He was one of a host of celebrities attending the funeral, which took place in Morningside Heights in Manhattan yesterday, among them Steve Buscemi and Dustin Hoffman.
