Beverly Hills Cop TV series planned

Eddie Murphy teams up with The Shield creator for small screen version

Eddie Murphy wants to bring ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ to the small screen.

Vulture reports that the funnyman, who starred as Axel Foley in the original movie trilogy, is shopping the project to networks.

He has teamed up with 'The Shield' creator Shawn Ryan, with Foley playing a supporting role in the TV incarnation. The new series will be an hour-long “a buddy cop show" with comedy and procedural elements.

Last year Murphy told Rolling Stone about his plans for a "Beverly Hills Cop" TV series, though it’s unclear if the concept is the same. "What I'm trying to do with Beverly Hills Cop now is produce a TV show starring Axel Foley's son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit. I'd do the pilot, show up here and there,” he said.

The 'Beverly Hills Cop' franchise has so far made £442 million at the box office.
