Bourne 5 '100 percent' happening

And Matt Damon could also be back for Bourne Legacy sequel.

Universal Pictures have confirmed that ‘The Bourne Legacy’ will “100 percent” get a sequel. There’s a possibility Matt Damon may be making a comeback too.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson said:

"I absolutely see us doing more ‘Bourne’, 100 percent yes.

"Matt has talked about the possibility of coming back, and we totally respect that and are excited if and when he wants to have conversations.”

"I think the last movie gave us a big bunch of options to pursue a next chapter,” he added.

The ‘Bourne Legacy’, the fourth installment in the spy franchise, was released in August 2012 to mixed reviews. Although not technically a sequel, critics targeted Matt Damon’s replacement by ‘Hurt Locker’ star Jeremy Renner, playing separate fugitive spy Aaron Cross. He just wasn’t Jason Bourne.

Despite previously stating that he would not be returning to the franchise without the involvement of Paul Greengrass (director of ‘Bourne' two and three), Damon backtracked, recently revealing to Deadline that he “would love to do another one. I love that character.”

So does that mean Greengrass is back on board as well? We’ll just have to wait to find out.

The ‘Bourne’ franchise, based the character created by author Robert Ludlum, has a combined worldwide gross of just under £900 million.
